A car company wants to predict how much fuel different cars will use based on their masses. They took a sample of cars, drove each car 100   km 100km100, start text, k, m, end text, and measured how much fuel was used in each case (in liters). The data is summarized in the table below. Fuel used (L) 3.6 3.63, point, 6 6.7 6.76, point, 7 9.8 9.89, point, 8 11.2 11.211, point, 2 14.7 14.714, point, 7 Mass (metric tons) 0.45 0.450, point, 45 0.91 0.910, point, 91 1.36 1.361, point, 36 1.8

The fuel used depends on the mass of the car.

So the mass of the car is the explanatory variable which lies on the x-axis and the fuel used lies on the y-axis.

So, the mass is the explanatory variable, and it goes on the horizontal axis.

Fuel use is the response variable, and it goes on the vertical axis.

Graph B represents this the best because the x-axis and y-axis are correctly marked, and reasonably scaled making the graph easier to read.
