After the Y.M.C.A. misfortune, Douglas developed a fear of water. This experience turned into a debilitation for him. At whatever point he attempted to enter water, the dread which held onto him in the pool would return. He was unable to partake in any water sports, for example, kayaking, sailing, boating and swimming. This experience left an unpleasant dread of water in his heart.
